Perfect for updating family photos and documenting how much your children have grown, or updating your photos as a couple. Imagine how cute these will be hanging on your wall! These quick spring mini sessions are the perfect amount of time to keep everyone interested and happy without losing all the excitement. A mini session is great for almost every situation.

Who are mini sessions for?
As I stated above, mini sessions are great for just about every situation. Families can use this as a quarterly way to track everyone’s growth and change as the children grow. Maybe you are an expecting couple, these could be the perfect quick announcement photo to show off a growing belly, or a way to grab a few maternity pictures. Maybe you just recently became engaged. You could use this session to show off your news!
What are minis not great for?
Some children take time to warm up to new people, and a mini session may not always be the best fit. You know your child best, and they may surprise you with how well they do! I have plenty of experience working with children of all personalities, including those who need extra patience. However, sometimes a mini session just isn’t enough time to meet their needs.
A mini session may also not be ideal if you’re looking for a full-session experience with multiple locations. Mini sessions are quick—typically 15 minutes—which means we’re limited to one location and one outfit. While I make the most of that time, a full session offers more flexibility and variety. If that’s what you’re looking for, I’d love to book a full session with you! You can inquire through my contact form here:
How to prepare for your mini session
Here are a few tips for preparing for your session to ensure your session is as stress free as we can make it!
- Dress in complementary colors rather than perfectly matching. Light pinks and blues paired with tans and beiges create a beautiful, cohesive look. Check out Pinterest for inspiration!
- Avoid loud patterns and consider how your photos will look on your walls or coffee table. You want them to complement the spaces where you’ll display them. I always recommend avoiding bold patterns, but if you want to wear the same color, try mixing in different textures for added depth. Pay attention to the fabric choices to create visual interest.
- Accessorize! If you’re wearing a beautiful pink dress, add a fun earring or necklace to complete the look. A hat can also be a great accent. And ladies, don’t forget your nails—this is the perfect time to treat yourself to a little pampering before your session.
- For parents, bring a small, mess-free treat as a bribe—mini marshmallows work great! They’re easy to hide, won’t leave stains, and feel like a special reward.
- One more tip for parents: avoid bringing anything you don’t want in the photos. If your little one’s favorite monster truck is in their hands, it’ll likely end up in every shot! If they might get upset seeing it but not having it, consider leaving it in the car as a post-session reward for great smiles.
